In early December of 2014, Bobby Shmurda was roughly six months into a contract with Epic Records and could lay claim to a top 10 single on Billboard magazine’s ‘Hot 100’ chart with his song ‘Hot Boy.’ Halfway through the final month of 2014, the rapper found himself arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, weapons possession, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and various counts of conspiracy. The same websites that showed his music video were showing his perp walk.

In an exclusive Billboard interview from Rikers Island, where the 20-year-old is still in custody, Shmurda dismissed a few rumors and gave his thoughts on his case.
